FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
what class should my child sign up for?
At Ingrid's Gymnastics we offer recreational classes and competitive team classes (invite only). To get a sense of what class your child might be ready for, look at our class progression flow chart or our recreational class descriptions. If your child is new to gymnastics, enroll them in any of our Pre-K classes (2-5.5yrs) our Pink Team (5.5-9 yrs), or Beginner Classes (10+ yrs).
How do i register?
Visit our How to Register page for more detailed information. You will have to register online via our Parent Portal where you can check on class availability, request an enrollment and pay your bill. You can pay with a debit or credit card online or if you would prefer to pay with cash or check, you can pay at the gym. We do not currently accept tap to pay, Apple Pay, Venmo, etc.
What is a session?
A session spans a period of 8 weeks. Within those 8 weeks gymnasts are taught curriculum that is specific to their class (Pink Team, Red Team, Purple Team, etc). We have 5 sessions throughout the year for which you can sign up your child.
What happens if my child misses a class?
Make up classes will only be approved if your child has a doctor's excuse or if class was cancelled due to inclement weather. Please send your gymnast's doctor's excuse to the front office as soon as possible after your child has missed a class, and we will let you know when they have been registered for a makeup class.
what should my child wear to gymnastics?
For classes, female gymnasts will need to wear a leotard with or without tight-fitting shorts, they cannot wear anything that reveals their midriff, and male gymnasts will need to wear athletic shorts and a t-shirt that can be tucked in. Male gymnasts may also wear a gymnastics competition shirt/singlet. Gymnasts are not allowed to wear jewelry, metal hair clips or clothing with any hardware on it.
how will i know what progress my child is making?
Recreational gymnasts are assessed on week 7 of their 8-week session and will be tested for these skills to see if they can progress to the next class. Competitive gymnasts are assessed throughout the season, and they will progress to the next level when they pass these skills and show emotional/mental readiness.
how are students selected for the competitive team?
Students who have passed Silver Team will be assessed to see if they are ready for Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3. Beyond skills, students must have the maturity and determination to be a part of our competitive team program and are accepted by invitation only. We hold tryouts each year in December for any gymnasts who would like the opportunity.
